Dhikala Zone Corbett

Dhikala area is the largest forest area of Corbett National Park and Dhanghari Gate is the gateway to Dhikala area. Dhangari Gate is 18 km from Ramnagar and 31 km from Dhikala tourist area is Dhangri Gate.

The Dikala region is home to a large number of Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, wild boars, black bears, sloth bears, Indian muntjacs (barking deer), hogs, sambar deer, yellow sables, otters and gharials. Wildlife such as the golden oriole, Pallas’s eagle, Indian gall, tawny owl, golden mahseer, scarlet minivet and birds such as the great pied or hornbill, orange-breasted green pigeon, Hodgson’s bush chat, white-backed vulture, and reptiles such as the gharial or alligator, but or the crocodile and the king cobra.

Flora of Dhikala Region : Grasses, ferns, vines, grasses, shrubs, salier, khair, sissu and chir pine are the same evergreen plants found in Corbett.

One of the best examples of unspoiled beauty, the Dhikala ecotourism area offers some of the best views in the Corbett National Park. The rich diversity of wildlife makes it one of the top tourist destinations in India. The Dhikala region is the largest of the five zones of the Corbett Tiger Sanctuary and offers the most beautiful scenery, with lush green sal forests, vast grasslands, narrow valleys and the diverse waters of the Ramganga River. The Ramganga River is considered to be the lifeblood of the Corbett Forest, which harbours wildlife and beauty and maintains the flora and fauna of the CorbettNational Park.

About Dikala Canter Safari : You can spot endangered animals like tigers in the natural environment of the national park. The largest and only area of the Corbett Tiger Sanctuary to offer canter safaris is the Dhikala region. It is accessible through Dhangadi Gate, which is 18 km from Ramnagar town, which is 50 km in the forest.

Canter safaris (16 passenger open top bus with guide) are a popular way to explore Corbett Tiger Reserve. Suitable for large groups of family and friends or party members. One of the best ways to explore the jungle, canter safaris are available only in the Dhikala region. Those who live outside the region and wish to explore the wildlife sanctuary can do so by opting for a canter safari.

Canter safari starts at Ramnagar and Dhangari gate of Dhikala district. Canter Safari timings are 5:30 am and 11:30 pm.

Availing canter safaris in Corbett requires advance planning. Legal permits are required as all forest areas are restricted and protected. There are two types of licenses.

Now 4 canters can enter the vanishing area at a time and a gallop can accommodate 16 tourists. People travel with naturalist and driver. Canter safaris run twice a day. Tourists can head to the Dhikala area of the canter, which can carry up to 16 passengers, and depart from Ramnagar in the morning and afternoon. This tour is called Ramganga Conducted Tour and is permitted under the guidance of Jim Corbett National Park. Tourists can board the canter at Ramnagar or at the Dhangari Gate.

Dhikala Zone Canter Safari

Canter Safari in Jim Corbett National Park can be obtained online. Corbett Canter Safari costs Rs 1500 for Indians and Rs 3000 for foreigners. Indians can order 45 days before arrival and foreigners can order 90 days in advance.

Availing canter safaris in Corbett requires advance planning. Forest areas require a permit as the entire area is a restricted and protected area. There are two types of licenses.

Day 1: 1-Day National Park Tour (Jeep Safari or Canter Safari) for Indians and Foreigners.

Second: One Night Permit for one night in Government Forest Lodge.

Day Safari Timings Of The Dhikala Zone:

Note: only 2 Center Safari are allowed in each shift.

1. Summer mornings:
  • Summer mornings: 5:30am – 11:00am Dinner: 12:00pm – 6:00pm.
2. Winter Mornings:
  • Winter Mornings: 6:00 AM – 11:30 PM: 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM.

 

Things to keep in mind while taking canter safari

ID: DL Number, PAN Card, Voter Card, Passport Number, Student Card etc.

Travelers should bring the list submitted on this form with them when visiting Jim Corbett National Park.

Everyone’s name, age, gender and government approval are required for canter safaris.

Reservations for canter safaris can be made 45 days in advance.

All passengers will have to self-register at the canter. Fees are non-refundable.
