At Hamara Uttarakhand, Jhirna Zone is one of the six ecotourism zones of Corbett National Park. Corbett National Park is divided into six tourism zones, with the Jhirna zone being added much later in 1994. To expand the tiger reserve zone, the agricultural land of Jhirna village and two other villages was included in the reserve area and the villages were relocated nearby. And then, the land was redeveloped and turned into a unique lush forest. Being open all year round for wildlife safari, other zones (except Dhela zone) remain closed during monsoon season, hence Jhirna zone is visited by a large number of people throughout the year. The waterfall is on the southern edge of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The animal population here also includes sloth bears and wild elephants, which provide a wonderful sight for wildlife enthusiasts. Jhirna Zone is open year-round. Jhirna Jeep Safari Zone is one of the most visited places inside Corbett Tiger Reserve. The large population of wild elephants and sloth bears in this zone also attracts wildlife enthusiasts. Along with wild animals, this zone has a spectacular view of large grasslands called Chaur. Chaur is usually a good place for herbivorous animals like elephants and deer, which further invite predatory carnivorous animals like tigers. This zone has many river channels with warm currents and rocky shores making it an ideal place for birding. Many types of birds are found in this place, due to which it is the best zone for bird watchers. The best thing about Jhirna Zone is that it is open for day safaris throughout the year if the weather is good.
Jungle Safari Can be done using the registered jeeps. Taking registered nature guides is mandatory on all wild excursions.
Chaurs (Grass Lands) Around Jhirna we have a large chaurs (Grass land) known as the Laldhang Chaur. This is the favored area by the wild herbivores like elephants and deer.
Flora and Fauna The area has large open grasslands, commonly known as Chaur. Its land is mostly dry, deciduous and has other forests. There are many natural rivers in this area. The river banks are warm and easy to find for walking around. The rivers are lined with cliffs, which can be a good place for bird watching.
